Neiman Group VP Supports Tattoos In The Workplace
HARRISBURG, Pa. (July 20, 2009) — Expressing creativity is part of Neiman Group culture — whether it's in the work we do for our clients, or the tattoos that some Neiman Group employees choose to put on their bodies, said Megan Madsen, the agency's senior vice president of account service. Madsen was part of a panel discussion on tattoos in the workplace, featured in a July 20 Harrisburg Patriot-News article. The Susquehanna Art Museum is showcasing an exhibit titled "Ancient Marks: The Sacred Origins of Tattoos and Body Marking" which runs through Sept. 13. Madsen sits on the art museum board of directors.
"Our clients come to us because of our creativity, and I've never heard of tattoos being an issue with one of our clients," Madsen told the Patriot-News. "But if an employee had a tattoo on the face, we might do a double-take."
Prior to her participation in the panel, Madsen conducted a Neiman Group survey and found that more than one-third of employees have tattoos — "some more visible then others!" said Madsen.

Asked subsequently by colleagues if she has exercised her own creative self-expression through a tattoo. Madsen demurred. "TMI," she said.
